Crossroads Ministry of Estes Park
Crossroads is a Christian social service organization that has been helping thousands of Estes Valley residents since 1982. They have a great webpage outlining their volunteer opportunities:
Meals on Wheels Route Drivers: Volunteers deliver approximately 35 meals daily to people who have limited access to get out of their homes. Currently they have four routes daily, most volunteers taking one route that requires one day a week.
Food Pantry “Stewards”: Weigh-in food contributions and weigh-out distributions to clients, as well as assisting clients with sound nutritional choices. Help organize the food pantry and review stock for expiration dates and food recalls. Requirements include reading, interpersonal skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Crossroads Guides: At the front desk/reception area welcome clients into the waiting room, assist them with updating records, and guide them to case managers or food pantry stewards as needed. A typical shift is four hours, one or more days per week, year-round. Requirements include reading, strong interpersonal skills, and basic computer experience.
Food Re-packager: Ensure that generous donations of high-quality prepared food from the YMCA of the Rockies are safely packaged and promptly frozen to provide tasty family-size heat-and-serve meals for distribution to clients. A typical volunteer shift is 1-2 hours, one to three days per week, year-round. Requirements include the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Food Gofer: Essential for food services at Crossroads. Volunteers ferry food from local businesses and other organizations to the Crossroads food pantry and re-packaging room. A typical volunteer shift varies from 30 minutes to two hours, one or more days per week, year-round. Requirements include the ability to drive and to lift up to 35 pounds.
Office Volunteer: Assist with a variety of tasks related to quarterly newsletters, occasional special mailings, and other administrative projects. Schedule varies from 2-8 hours per week each quarter. Required skills include manual dexterity for folding, stamping and similar tasks.
Tim Van Ryn is their volunteer coordinator: tim.crossroadsep@gmail.com, 970-577.0610 ext. 201.
