Behind all the great activities we enjoy as Newcomers is a team of members who volunteer their time and skills for the benefit of all.
Securing venues for monthly meetings, keeping the website and calendar up to date, informing members with timely communications, and recruiting the next class are some of the many important roles our Executive Committee and Board play in ensuring that Newcomers is a special experience.
Each year, we welcome new faces to the Executive Committee and Board. As President, I am thrilled to work with some amazing and dedicated people. The following is this year’s roster:

You probably did not know that you joined an organization that turns the calendar on its head and celebrates the New Year in JULY!
Estes Park Newcomers is kicking off another amazing year. We have a NEW Board, a NEW calendar and the biggest class of Newcomers in Club history.
In keeping with the New Year theme, here are some fun resolutions we hope each of you will adopt:
- Get involved! There is literally something for everyone at EP Newcomers.
- Try something new! Never played Mah-Jongg? There’s a club for that! Always wanted to try quilting? Reach out and see if it’s for you.
- Recommend a new group or event to the Board! With over 300 members, there’s bound to be other people who share your passion.
- Keep up to date – Read the emails and check out our amazing website for special events and scheduled activities.
- Dine-In, Dine-Out, Wine and Cheese - Make NEW friends that will last a lifetime.
So - Get active! We’re looking for you to fill these openings: Events Committee, Communications Committee, Movie Night Out Interest Group Leader, Hiking Group Coordinator – the opportunities are endless!
There’s a place for you!
Great Member Experience.
Those words go back almost a year. They were the challenge I set out for our new Board at the first gathering last June.
And a challenge it was - no single person, no single idea, no single decision would achieve that goal alone.
Looking back, I see so many instances where an issue or opportunity was turned into a success by those who rose to this challenge.
I very much want to elaborate on those successes, but I will save that for the May General Meeting. I hope all of you plan to join us in the celebration of the Newcomers 2018-2019 year.
In the meantime, I would like to recognize those 57 people that pursued Great Member Experience this year.

This will be the last President's Post I have the privilege of composing. Certainly a bittersweet moment.
It truly has been a great experience for me to serve the Club this past year as President. Making new friends and working alongside such outstanding people who contributed to the experience of so many others - it doesn't get any better than that.
I thank each of you for the honor.
Membership Renewal Process for 2019-2020
One of the key provisions in the updated Newcomers Bylaws moves the membership year to July 1 - June 30. This change was intended to create a better transition from one set of officers to the next, facilitate event and activities planning, expedite Interest Group signups, and allow for an earlier start to our year.
This is what you need to know about how the change will impact you:
- You can check your account status online on the ABOUT YOU page from the Newcomers website. (If you're not already signed in, first select the green MEMBER SIGN IN button to sign in with the email of your primary contact, then that option will appear). If you have not already renewed, you will see that your membership payment was due on July 1st:
- Renewing your membership can most easily be accomplished online, by selecting the "Pay Online" option and completing the form with your credit card information.
- Mail-in payments will be accepted also, by selecting the "Pay by Check" option and mailing in your check for $30.
- To make this transition easy for everyone, a 60-day grace period will be observed, starting July 1, so that everyone can continue to enjoy Club events and activities through the summer. All members will receive renewal reminders by email during this time.
- Active members who have not renewed by September 1, 2019, will be considered inactive and no longer eligible to participate in Club events and activities.
In the past, many members renewed their memberships and signed up for Interest Groups at the September General Membership meeting. With this change, you must renew your membership BEFORE you can register for the September meeting.
It is important to note that the change to the membership year does not affect the Club's General Membership Meeting schedule - those events will continue from September through May, as in past years.
If there are any questions on the above, please contact membership@estesparknewcomers.org
Discover History Deep Inside The Park
The Club has arranged for two guided hikes into Rocky Mountain National Park on Thursday, May 30th. The tour focuses on areas of historic significance within RMNP. Sites visited will include: Fall River lodge, convict cabins, Ashton homestead and garage, Hupp graves, Hondius farm house foundation, High Drive water treatment plant and Sprague's Lodge.
The trip will include a couple of restroom stops, but no stops for food. There is about a mile of walking total for all of the stops. Much of it is on a trail or a dirt road.
Registration is open so register today!
Summer does not slow down the Interest Groups - there's fun to be had!
Check out these Interest Groups that meet during the summer months:

Club Calendar: "What's Going On"
As you have probably seen, the "What's Going On" link at the top of any page will take you to the Club calendar of events. Some tips about using the calendar:
- As you scroll down the page, future months will automatically load into the display. However, if you want to review past events, you need to click the "Load Older" link at the top of the calendar.
- You will notice that some types of events are displayed in a certain color. You can filter down to only a specific event category (e.g. General Meetings) by clicking the "Show" button at the top left and selecting the desired category.
- And naturally, if you click on any event in the calendar, it will take you to a page with more information about that event.
If you have any questions, contact tech@estesparknewcomers.org.
